Oh No Ono “Eggs” album on Spotify: http://open.spotify.com/album/3ReFD2hSiNcLMxpBp6U108

The press about “Eggs”:
“Oh No Ono’s new album, Eggs, is impressively bonkers and almost impossible to describe succinctly. It’s psychedelic, baroque, glammy, 70’s AM, with some synth pop and the occasional church choir thrown in. And very catchy stuff too.” – BROOKLYN VEGAN
“If Animal Collective can be credited with updating the Mercury Rev/Flaming Lips cosmic-pop template, then Oh No Ono blast it into the stratosphere on a rocket of precocious talent.” UNCUT
“Eggs is a seductive and dense confection of Beatlesque psychedelic wash, insistent melody and grandiose swirl” Mojo
“a treasure trove of baroque trivia. Eggs is admirably song-focused, and divested of any but the tastiest excesses” Pitchfork
“hauntingly glam, Arcade Fire-style orchestral bombast and the most polarising falsetto since Joanna Newsom” The Quietus
“psychedelica at its cinematic best” Filter
“Fantastical, experimental pop that knows no boundaries” Under The Radar

Bandet som har blitt omtalt av NME som “One of the most exciting things I’ve heard in ages. I’m a bit in love truth be told”.

Bjørn Torske comes from the capital of electronic music in Norway, Tromsø, a small town far north over the artic circle. This town has bred great artists such as Mental Overdrive, Biosphere and Royksopp. Through Geir Jenssen, Torske got in touch with SSR/Crammed Discs in Belgium, and in 1991 he appeared on two separate 12″ singles on the label. Dutch label Djax-Up-Beats picked up on the talented young Norwegian, and the following years Torske released a string of underground 12″ singles on Djax-Up-Beats and other labels, such as Reinforced Records, run by Mark & Dego of 4Hero.

Still early 90’s, Torske soon moved to Bergen. At this time he played synthesizer on Biosphere’s live shows, and toured around the world with Geir Jenssen. After releasing an album on Djax-Up-Beats in 1995 Torske concentrated on DJing for a couple of years, releasing only one single on Per Martinsen’s Love OD label. It did have a noticeable impact, though. «Fleet» became a club hit in Amsterdam, and was pumped regularly by DJs like Dimitri and Derrick May. Eventually Ferox-boss Russ Gabriel got to hear Torske’s music. He immediately phoned Torske, led to the release the album «Nedi Myra». The album caused quite a stir around the world. Back in Norway some of Bjørn’s fellow Tromsø-dwellers, like Röyksopp’s Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland moved to Bergen. New acts, clubs and labels were emerging in town, transforming the otherwise sleepy university town on Norway’s west coast to the hippest place to be. Meanwhile, Bjørn had started releasing singles through prestigious house label SVEK. In 1998 his friend Mikal Telle founded Tellé Records, and invited Bjørn to join in on the fun. Bjørn released «Disco Members» on Tellé in 2000 as well as taking take time off to release the brilliant «Aerosoles» on SVEK. In the same period Torske also produced his next album, Trøbbel on Telle Records, as well as remixing his friends and studiopartners Røyksopp`s first hit single “Eple”.

When Prins Thomas was asked the question “what is the most desirable signing if money grew on trees?” by Fact Magazine, his answer was; “if I could lure him out of his cave for a second I wouldn’t mind getting some new stuff from Bjorn Torske”

The album “Feil Knapp” (Norwegian for wrong button) released in 2007 – now on Smalltown Supersound – represented a sound that sits somewhere in between “Trøbbel”, “Nedi Myra” and the underground hit “Søppelmann”. With influences ranging everything from Count Ossie and The Residents via 22 Skidoo to Idjut Boys, Torske created once again his very own and characteristic signature sound, a unique blend of warm and melancholic house, quirky avant-disco, leftfield electronica and dark, heavy psychedelic dub. Weirdly melodic and wonderfully groovy.

October 2010 Bjørn Torske will release a new album, named Kokning – on Smalltown Supersound and offers more wierd disco from the great up-north.

Under årets by:Larm fikk Hypertext strålende omtaler, blant annet:
“Hypertext were in some ways a mess but in a good way: they reconciled jam-band tendencies with a 70s pop bounce. If I had a bar, I’d ask them to do a residency.” Matt McDonald, CMJ

Pelle Moeld, P3 Lab, Swedish P3″

Tidligere utgivelser:
Corrente Elektro (2007) – CD
Science Room (2008) (Alternative Trippin’, Emi Polen) – CD
Futuristic Box (2009) – Vinyl 7”hyper

After taking the aliases as Terminator Kjex and Cheesy, two bored Norwegians spent their lifesavings on a big pile of cheese and biscuits, some studio equipment and locked themselves away for about two years. Creating what would become, "Some But Not All Cheese Comes From the Moon". Their debut album based solely on sounds from yes : cheese & biscuits.

So, what came first, the cheese or the biscuit?

That has been the discussion around many a smorgasbord. If you ask the boys if it was their love for cheesy handbag-house and dance, or the obsession with crunchy fucked up electronic sounds that started it all?

- You won’t get a straight answer, but maybe a stupid story like this:

The debut album to their big surprise, awarded them a nomination for best electronica album (Alarm; Norwegian Grammy). Digging their way thru piles of breadcrumbs, smelly cheeses and into the light, Ost & Kjex found people liking their music, but nobody really believed in their modus operandi, the exclusive use of food as sound source.

After weeks of no sleep, less drinking, menthol cigaretts, no music making, …and bad digestion they finally saw the light and came up with a new mantra :

«To Brie Or Not To Brie – That is the Queso !»

Since then the food boys has awoken, got their hands on some serious sounds and started shredding out tunes aiming at the dance floor.

In between liveshows and remixing the busy foodboys are working on their 2nd album.

Their love for electronic music still takes the boys wherever the cheese is fresh and the beats are crunchy, from the Reggiano Parmesan factory in Verona.. to your local waterhole. churning out theatrical performances or fucked-up live sets for the dance floor.

«Hastaluego manchego!»

One dark Norwegian winter night back in 2001 I had my first experience with Silver. They had been touring England for a couple of weeks and were back in Norway to complete their Zoom tour. The venue obviously was too big considering the crowd of 30, and my expectations were low. But as the band entered the stage my jaw dropped. The energy! The vigour! The melody! The
attitude! I was stunned. This band was tight like Joey Ramone’s Levi’s jeans, furious like Lemmy without his morning JD, as fast as it was furious, still as cool as The Fonz. I had no idea this species existed in the flora of Norwegian rock’n’roll.

“Wolf Chasing Wolf” is Silver’s third album. Under the influence of dystopic 19th century German and Russian philosophers and poets dead either from
syphilis or alcohol abuse, the songs on this album reflect anxiety and terror combined with a sincere wish to make a difference, to shake things up.

Silver has had their commercial ups-and-downs, but they’ve seen wide acclaim in the Norwegian underground punk rock scene for a decade. The band’s debut album “White Diary” of 2004 marked a breakthrough in Norway with very good reviews and national radio airtime. This led to excessive touring around Europe, the United States, and Japan, as well as appearances at festivals across Scandinavia, such as at the Roskilde festival in Denmark and the Quart festival in Norway. Subsequently, the band went to the US in a somewhat naïve hope of connecting with some great producer and making a grandiose second album on American soil, but returned back home ambivalent of the entire record industry, disillusioned and bitter, dismissing an entire album only to record their much more dark and angry “World Against World” in one hectic week in 2006.

Two and a half years have passed and finally “Wolf Chasing Wolf” is out. This time the band has spent a lot more time in the studio further developing and refining their very original musical style. Partly staying true to their trademark sound with unexpected turns of guitar chords, aggressive lead vocals and infectious choruses, and partly ploughing new fields, adding to the compact punk rock sound influences from the nineties hardcore-scene as well as nodding in the direction of black metal.

“Wolf Chasing Wolf” affirms Silver’s position as one out of very few interesting and original, clear-minded acts to come out of the Scandinavian fog of delusion and self-righteousness, a real kick to the groin on blind conformity, homogenization and consumer mentality. Pick up your life and do something with it!
